JAMMALONG IN CANBERRA
Hello and welcome to

Canberra's best "Jammalong"

'Jammalongers' Michael and Dianne Porter host the regular monthly 'Jammalong' in Canberra and support the work of reclaiming public parks for acoustic music.

The JAMMALONG is FREE and it's all about acoustic music for every level!

When?

From 12MD on the second Saturday of each month till we have had enough.

Where?

Under the Pergola in the park beside Enid Lyons Street.
Situated on the lake side of the Questacon Building is a public park with BBQ facilities under a large pergola.  There is a public toilet with disabled access and ample parking for cars nearby.

NOTE: (On the very rare occasion this venue is unavailable our back up venue is in the park at Black Mountain Peninsula at the very end of Garryowen Drive.  This is accessed from Lady Denman Drive which is the road that goes across Scriviner Dam.)

The Questacon cafe is the closest place to buy some nibbles and a hot drink.
SEE THE MAP ->>>
You can zoom in and zoom out of the map using the plus and minus signs.  You can also drag it around using the hand icon to look at adjacent areas to help you plan a travel route.  The pergola is just a little further from the marker shown below, near the corner of Mall Road West and Enid Lyons Street.

A copy of the flyer is shown below as well - YOU CAN PRINT OUT A COPY

A little about the hosts

Picture
Michael (banjo, fiddle and vocals) and Dianne (guitar, vocals and bass) are singer songwriters and members of the Bluegrass & Traditional Country Music Society of Australia.  They like bluegrass and country/folk music.

Michael and Dianne developed the Jammalong so they could share music with other people on a regular basis.  When their lounge room at home proved too small they decided a public park is the space to be in so why not reclaim them for acoustic music.  It is big enough to allow musicians and their instruments to spread out.

"Our goal is to create a safe place where everyone can bring their musical gift to share.  We encourage others to do the same."  Michael and Dianne Porter

What do we want?  - Music in the parks!  When do we want it? - Now!   ...Well actually...  the 2nd Saturday of each month at 12 midday!
